Oh Happy Day
Yankees Lose Yankees Lose Yankees Lose Yankees Lose Yankees Lose!!!
Bounced from the playoffs with a first round loss to the upstart Detroit Tigers, the only Yankee to acquit himself well was the unheralded (and least paid starter) Chien-Ming Wang. After his game one start, everyone else, including A-Rod (he of the $25 million dollar annual salary,) Sheffield, Derek "Cap'n" Jeter, Giambi (he of the steroid abuse,) and Randy Johnson all sucked. While ESPN bukkakied all over themselves talking about "the greatest lineup ever", the Yanks showed their true colors by choking again in the playoffs. No heart. No fire. Overpaid ego-driven veterans playing only for the paycheck. Hats off to Los Tigres who made baseball fun to watch again this last week.
This off season promises the additional delight of watching the Yankees brass squirm as people start getting the ax. Hopefully they'll finally fire Joe "the most boring man in the entire world" Torre and hire Lou Pinella, which will be the most entertaining move since the last time the Yanks hired notorious drunk Billy Martin (RIP). Even more delicious would be if Joe Torre took the managerial job for (NY archnemesis) the Boston Redsox.

Yeah Baseball! Whoooohooo!!!! Go Baseball!!!!
Dear Stave It Off,
If I stop eating meat, will I too replace this carnal desire by staring at a television?
Soapy
Soapy,
Overall effects of not eating meat include: feeling of lightness or physical wellbeing. Improved GI track functioning. Near elimination of typically medicated problems like constipation or acid reflux. Previously unknown levels of spontaneous laughter. Improved ability to taste different flavors. Less need for salt. Heightened tolerance (and awareness) of other people's strangely angry behavior. Better skin tone. Improvement in body odor (including the smell/taste of sexual fluids.) Reduction in unwanted or unexplainable frustration, anger, violent thoughts. Substantially heightened sense of smugness. Increase in desire to play with dogs and small children. Occasional feelings that Western values (although they certainly won the social Darwinism war) kinda suck.
I always loved that bumper sticker that read, "Vegetarians Taste Better."
I think we do!
Court
Apparently, the entire Seibu Lions (Japanese) baseball team won the Pacific League championship two years in a row after switching to a vegetarian diet!
Hmmmm....
Vegetarians...?!
Vegetarians ain't got no jobs.
You can't make friends with salad.
Yeah, baseball, vegetarians, whatever. I just wanted to say that I think the narrower column works better than the wider column for readability.
I would go with the FAT blog were it me because I'm embarrassed by my verbosity being exposed in the heighth of a post, and a wider blog would alleviate that a bit.
Perhaps a compromise of 25-30 pixels...
The wider blog is nice since it allows me to embed certain video links that are a bit larger. It no longer knocks my right column stuff down below the left column content. I can also post slightly larger photos within the blog body.
It also makes longer posts seem less space-consuming, like you were saying Jim. I like it for both properties.
