Trek Across Bainbridge
Deep in the lovely Bloedel Reserve.
Today was all about a day-long trip to Bainbridge Island, where Carole and I ate lunch at Cafe Nola, poked around antique shops, got coffee and pie at Bainbridge Bakers where I once worked about 9 years ago (sadly they don't make gooseberry pie anymore,) walked the Bloedel Reserve, had another coffee at the Blackbird where I ran across some of my old students from Spectrum Community School, and finally supped at Sawadty Thai restaurant. Home now, suffering exhaustion and mild heat stroke, happily sipping iced strawberry juice.

Glad is right - my tevas were stinky. And your feet are big.
OK, I am now officially homesick. Stop with all the lovely Northwest pics! (OK, don't, I love the exquisite torture.)
C'mon, I'm sure there are a few trees left in Europe.
Not nice old mossy and greeny and northwesty like. Believe it or not, when some cheesy made for TV movie comes on the tube, I can instantly tell it's been filmed in the Northwest (Southwest for all you Canucks out there). We do have a unique and special natural beauty.
When I first went to Galicia, it felt like home, but then almost as soon as I had that feeling, I started noticing differences. Of course, the thousand-year-old churches helped to clue me in!
